Riding the double decker city bus was one of our favorite and fun activties when going to downtown Baghdad. We always liked to sit in the front seat of the top floor so we could view the city from above. Occationaly, we loved making gestures to people.

When we attended our first time in a wedding party in our neighborhood. No invitation were needed then. As tradition, a belly dancer has to dance in front the bride and groom as they arrive to wedding party.
Well, it was a big party so there were several belly dancers dancing around. As boys we decided to shoot the belly dancer with rubber bands from behind the crowd. We think the belly dancers had an awful time trying to keep their smiles going while performing a good belly dancing.

Flying Penguins
About every religious holiday, these caped women with Aba (black cover) deliver bread or homemade bread with some greens in them like basil leaves to the neighbors as a commemorative celebratory. My brother and I called a group of covered women with the Abaya penguins!

There are section of the book that illustrated our childhood imaginary super heros which they where created from actual people in our neighborhood. One of them is:
The Diary Product Woman
She works on the neighborhood farm nearby and when she comes to town, you’d better stay away from the wild waves of the whiff! Her arms were wrapped in cloth for protection to act as gloves. All her clothes always reeked sweet mixed with diary farm products.
